Prelude
The Greeting
The president greets the people
Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you
All And also with you
Hymn 220
Prayers of Reconciliation
The risen Christ appeared to the disciples behind the doors they had locked out of fear. Let us make our confession to God, acknowledging all that separates us from Christ risen from the dead
You asked for faith and trust, we demanded proof and certainty,
Lord have mercy
Your love was stronger than death; we build tombs around our hearts
Christ have mercy
You sent us in the world with a message of hope; we lingered in comfortable despair
Lord have mercy
The president concludes with an absolution
May the God of love and power forgive you and free you from your sins,
heal and strengthen you by his Spirit, and raise you to new life in Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Gloria
The Collect
Risen Christ, your wounds declare your love for the world
and the wonder of your risen life: give us compassion and courage
to risk ourselves for those we serve, to the glory of God the Father.
All Amen.
The Liturgy of the Word
Readings
The First reading is from Acts 8.26-end
This is the word of the Lord.
All Thanks be to God.
Psalm 22
25 From you comes my praise in the great congregation; ♦
I will perform my vows in the presence of those that fear you.
26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied; ♦
those who seek the Lord shall praise him; their hearts shall live for ever.
27 All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, ♦
and all the families of the nations shall bow before him.
28 For the kingdom is the Lord’s ♦
and he rules over the nations.
29 How can those who sleep in the earth bow down in worship, ♦
or those who go down to the dust kneel before him?
30 He has saved my life for himself; my descendants shall serve him; ♦
this shall be told of the Lord for generations to come.
31 They shall come and make known his salvation, to a people yet unborn, ♦
declaring that he, the Lord, has done it.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning it is now and ever shall be. Amen.
The Second Reading is from 1 John 4:7-end
This is the word of the Lord.
All Thanks be to God.

Sermon
Hymn 721
An Affirmation of Easter Faith
All Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and was buried, and was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and appeared to Peter, then to the twelve, then to more than five hundred, then to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all to Paul. As all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ. Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians1
Amen.
Prayers of Intercession
The Liturgy of the Sacrament
The Peace
The risen Christ came and stood among his disciples and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ Then were they glad when they saw the Lord. Alleluia.
The peace of the Lord be always with you
All And also with you. Alleluia.
Offering and Preparation of the Table
Hymn 472
Blessed be God, who feeds the hungry, who raises the poor, who fills our praise. All Blessed be God for ever.
The Eucharistic Prayer
The Lord be with you
All and also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
All We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All It is right to give thanks and praise.
It is indeed right, our duty and our joy,
always and everywhere to give you thanks, almighty and eternal Father,
and in these days of Easter to celebrate with joyful hearts
the memory of your wonderful works.
For by the mystery of his passion Jesus Christ, your risen Son,
has conquered the powers of death and hell
and restored in men and women the image of your glory.
He has placed them once more in paradise
and opened to them the gate of life eternal.
And so, in the joy of this Passover,
earth and heaven resound with gladness,
while angels and archangels and the powers of all creation
sing for ever the hymn of your glory.
All (Hymn 418) Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
We praise and bless you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord; and as we obey his command, send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured may be for us the body and blood of your dear Son.
On the night before he died he had supper with his friends and, taking bread, he praised you. He broke the bread, gave it to them and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.
When supper was ended he took the cup of wine. Again he praised you, gave it to them and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did, in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross.
Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation, we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory.
Jesus Christ is Lord:
All Lord, by your cross and resurrection you have set us free. You are the Saviour of the world.
Lord of all life, help us to work together for that day when your kingdom comes and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth. Look with favour on your people, gather us in your loving arms and bring us with all the saints to feast at your table in heaven.
Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, O loving Father, for ever and ever. All Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Being made one by the power of the Spirit, as our Saviour taught us, so we pray
All Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
Breaking of the Bread
The president breaks the consecrated bread.
We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.
All Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.
Giving of Communion
Alleluia. Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.
Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia.
Music during Communion. The president and people receive communion.
Prayer after Communion
Silence is kept.
Eternal God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life:
grant us to walk in his way, to rejoice in his truth, and to share his risen life; who is alive and reigns, now and for ever.
All Amen.
The Dismissal
May Christ, who out of defeat brings new hope and a new future,
fill you with his new life; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. All Amen.
Announcements
Hymn: 203
A minister says
With the risen life of Christ within you, go in the peace of Christ. Alleluia, alleluia.
All Thanks be to God. Alleluia, alleluia.
The ministers and people depart
Postlude
Jesus called us all to be his disciples and contribute to sharing the gospel. There are many ways we contribute in sharing but every way will greatly help others in God’s family. A financial contribution to church and its activities is one way to share of yourself and strengthen the gospel. |
